Students took a trip to the Museum of Victims of Repression.

One of the painful pages of our country’s history — the period of political repression — left a deep mark on the spiritual memory of our people. In understanding the path taken towards today’s peaceful and prosperous life, free thought, and an independent state, knowledge of the exemplary lives and tragic fates of the victims of that time, and commemoration of their memory are of invaluable importance in the upbringing of the younger generation.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan has approved a schedule aimed at studying, promoting, and perpetuating the memory of our compatriots who became victims of political repression. In accordance with it, work has begun on organizing visits of heads of higher educational institutions and student youth to the «Victims of Repression» museums.

As part of this initiative, a spiritual and educational event was held today, November 5th, at Berdaq Karakalpak State University. Under the leadership of the Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work, S. Alawatdinov, a group of active student youth visited the «Victims of Repression» Museum at the university.

During the trip, the students familiarized themselves with the museum’s expositions and received detailed information about the life, scientific, cultural, and political activities of our compatriots who were innocently accused and died prematurely during the years of political repression. During the spiritual conversations organized by the museum staff, the students had a deep impression of the complex political situation of that time, the fate of the national intelligentsia, their courage and selflessness.
